GOOD MORNING! For the last several mornings Paul sat down to listen for a post from me inviting support. Each morning, I have shared a number of important things — none of which were invitations of support. With $321 in the Foundation’s bank account, the need for support is significant. And yet, that issue is not what I have addressed.
Today I am addressing it, but only obliquely. It is not what everyone needs to hear, and it is not what Paul needs to know at this time. So, I am informing everyone that there is a need, and I am not going to put a number on it.
Instead, the following is a conversation addressing not only what Paul needs to learn, right now, but what everyone needs to learn, right now. And when I say “everyone,” I mean everyone on the globe.
I will also be sharing other of our conversations in the days to come. Be sure to check back daily. In many cases, the learning for everyone in these conversations are shared in light of Paul’s specific learning, but I share them because no one is as unique as he might wish he was, and Paul’s issues are your issues, and learning how one’s Guide relates one on one, as opposed to in a group setting, needs to be understood by everyone, as well.
When you read the Course and you have read my words here, you might think that Guidance from an Awakened one is always formal, and that more casual conversation, one-on-one, which you may have experienced, is not real guidance. So, there will be a lot of learning in these upcoming posts.
Before continuing with this morning’s conversation, I will reiterate that there is only $321 in the Foundation’s bank account, the immediate need is substantial, and everyone’s support is invited and needed. You will find instructions regarding contributions at the end of this post.

PAUL: Good morning, Raj.
RAJ: Good morning, Paul.
PAUL: A definite shift has occurred. I have felt it in the last hour, and I am wondering if it is actual or not.
RAJ: It is actual, yes, Paul. Susan should be feeling it, too. You are wondering whether it is a shift nationally, politically, or at home, and the answer is “at home.”
In spite of flareups today, some of them heated, both of you have been insistent upon not validating thinking and instead taking each step with me. Susan’s perception that she hears me more easily is correct, and it is confusing to you to hear her speak without identifying that it is me. Perceptually it makes it seem as though she, alone — rather then joined — is talking, and you don’t yet realize that when you let me respond to everything, you are not going to say, “Raj says,…” You will just voice what you are hearing, because ultimately that voice is your Voice, even though, as you move toward that point, that change-line, you are perceiving that voice to be mine and not yours.
It is confusing. But Susan did not have to arrive at this point by spending a number of years letting others speak to me as someone quite different from her. So, she just leapt forward, unaware of the significant shift of perception which that leap would be for you. It is understandable.
You see, you are having to abandon the level of conscientious care which you always brought into play to make absolutely sure that you did not enter into any part of the conversations others were having with me.
Yet you have known for almost the whole time we have been together that Raj is your name, not mine. There has been no requirement to implement that until now, but here we are.
PAUL: Before we move on to that, what is the shift, which you say even Susan is noticing, in the past hour or more.
RAJ: Put simply, Paul, the more consistently you stay with me, and the more consistently your actions give form to the guidance you are receiving, the less available you are to the – for lack of better words — environmental stink and energies of the wrong neighborhood. That which seems to be chaos, dis-integration, confusion, begins to fade — just evaporate. The energies of your conscious awareness feel integrated once again. Your comprehension is restored, and complexity is not confusing. This all amounts to an experience of cohesiveness, integration, safety, security, stability, and, you discover it being present rather than “doing something” to bring it into your experience.
The “doing” lies in the consistency of Listening, the consistency of Joining, and neglecting to think and use “thoughts” to demonstrate independence. This is important to understand, and I’m going to ask both of you to remember it. It is what the two of you did today and accounts for the shift you are experiencing now.
Here is the way it works: You don’t have to do anything to experience your stability and integrity. You simply have to STOP doing what causes it to be unavailable to you — which is refusing to let it register with you. It’s that simple, that black-and-white. If you refuse to Listen, you won’t Hear.
It isn’t that it’s actually withheld from you, it’s that it’s held away from you by your preoccupation with and addiction to initiating something, anything, to give proof of your presence “in your own right.”
Everything really boils down to what’s in that last paragraph. Everything — the human condition, sin, sickness, death, together with all the good experiences which are evidences of nothing more than mutual agreements instead of Love.
You understand that. You grasp the meaning. It is not complex. You either want to let it in or you don’t. Everyone either wants to let it in or they don’t. The former is the Atonement and the latter is the Fall. Right here in the “now.”
Here’s the thing: You no longer have the choice. The idea that the Fall occurred thousands of years ago implies that time is a factor in the Atonement now. But now that it is clear that the Fall is the flipside of the Atonement in the only moment you have — now — it becomes obvious that you have crossed a threshold of no return.
When it becomes obvious that you can’t do what you can’t do, and that the attempt to do so has one effect only — to cover up what you were made for — the former becomes the epitome of meaninglessness and the latter suddenly becomes an obligation, a requirement, because there is no alternative.
For you, Paul, that means that what you have been doing as a Gift is something you don’t have the choice to “do” or “not do.” Life, in all of its forms, becomes the demand to fulfill your Function — co-creator with God. And for you, Paul, that amounts to the withholding of the “payoff” for good deeds, good manners and all of the righteous behaviors your mother taught you.
You are mad because you have to be kind, you have to give that which Means something, whether you feel like it or not. And the last seven words are the key words!
If you “feel like it” and do it, it is a gift for which you can take credit. The fact that another choice could have been made, which you didn’t make, makes you special.
Now, you are learning that to give voice to the Voice for Truth is like wiping your bottom or taking a bath. It won’t go down in the history books, but it will keep you and your environment fresh.
By the same token, if you do something which changes the world, if you do something which transforms your brother’s life, but you have no choice about it, the acts become meaningful. But let’s take a careful look here. When you have a choice, there is an automatic question: “What’s in it for me?” And you negotiate the terms: Credibility for you, appreciation, respect, maybe even money, and on and on.
If the answer to the question is, “Nothing!” the new question becomes, “Why should I do it, then?” If, in spite of that question, you HAVE TO DO IT, and you cannot fathom the reason for it, you had better humble yourself and do it to find out why.
Do you see what I’m saying? You have no choice. Accept it. Do the only thing you have the choice to do. It’s called Atonement. “Thy will, not mine be done.” It is in this act that the integrity and meaning of your Being as the holy Son of God is restored.
The journey without distance is the journey between “my will be done,” and “thy will be done.” And they are two sides of one coin. Two sides of one decision. However, after the choice is made one finds that it was a choice between Reality and imagination, Something and nothing, and therefore there was no decision, there were no choices, there was only ever Reality.
Thus, you can see that this dilemma of “choices” and “selves” is a meaningless complication which confronts everyone as though it were really important and must be squarely faced at the end of the journey without distance when commitment IS called for, being what you are IS a demand, and doing it whether you feel like it or not is the way you move through the undoing of the Fall — AND THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO DO IT!
Now, for perspective: In spite of whatever ego reactions may come into play and no matter how complicated it tries to make things become the fact is that the “process” is not complicated, and the simple persistence of the uncomplicated process, is why, without apparent effort, the two of you experienced the shift this morning just before this conversation.
Dedication to a simple goal of inquiring of me or the Holy Spirit is all it takes, which really doesn’t involve struggle. It doesn’t matter how complicated your conditioned thinking can make it seem or how useless it can make you think it is. As the two of you did, today, you returned your attention to me and asked, “what next?”
The more consistently you do this, and the fewer interruptions there are, the more you will be guaranteed to have this same, wonderful spontaneous effect: a shift of perception that “just happens” like a fog lifting without anything occasioning it at the moment it happens. It is like a gift out of nowhere.
Remember this!
It isn’t “clear, correct thinking,” or a particularly potent realization, or a particularly skillful argument on behalf of the truth that causes the shift of perception. It’s the friendship, the camaraderie, the walking along the path together with me, enjoying everything along the way together, with fewer and fewer interruptions in that partnership of experience which gives meaning to the word “miracle,” as the “sudden shift of perception” that suddenly, unexpectedly blessed you this morning.
Here is the “cause and effect” of it. The cause is the constant inquiry, “What about this, Raj?” “What about that, Raj?” “Should I do this?” “Am I to take that seriously?”
Any and every engagement of my attention, and the valuing of what I share, is for lack of better words the environment of the Atonement, which precipitates the effect: the surprise of shifts of perception “out of the blue.”
The miracle is a gift! Not the evidence of personal excellence. The miracle is a gift, and you are not the giver! But you are inseparable from its occurrence.
This is why it is said that the Holy Spirit can turn everything to your advantage. It is my function and the Holy Spirit’s function to reveal the Father’s Will in response to the slightest bit of attention you turn in our direction. But that is not the miracle. That is the communion which, the more consistent it is, absolutely precipitates the miracle. That is the amazing, simple and unequivocal truth.
