WATCHING IS ANOTHER WAY OF DESCRIBING “paying attention.” And I’m not talking about “watching out” or “watching for,” but being the presence of Mind which watches as — pays attention as God moves, in order to experience the wonder of Creation as it appears!
You see, when being conscious is perceived to be proof of autonomous independence and God-ordained free will, everything becomes reversed! One “wonders” in order to find something out. Whereas “paying attention” in communion with God provides an undistracted Mind in which one forever “finds Something out” . . . which causes him to stand in wonder at Creation revealed!
The practice of the holy instant is not the practice of the Power of Positive Thinking. It is not the means of bringing things to pass by a “designing mind” engaged in wondering . . . “what if this?” . . . “what if that?” It is, instead, the practice of silence! Attentive silence! In which the act of attention, not the silence, is the invitation to “only God knows what,” and the silence prevents anything from interfering with the revelation and the state of wonder which accompanies it.
I am bringing this up at this time because these updating posts could be misinterpreted as indications of “progress” of some sort, while healing, or correction of any kind is never progressive, but simply reveals the disappearance of a misperception! The transfer value is too auspicious to let pass without elaboration.
“Progress” — the very idea — is misleading, causing delay in the return Home . . . which is a ”journey without distance!” We cannot afford to forget this! And a simple thing like gratitude for “improvement today as compared to yesterday” or “less debt today than yesterday” — a simple, apparently innocuous thing like “gratitude” — can keep one bound. Why? Because it doesn’t uncover, it doesn’t reveal, the Fact that “you are neither behind the point of perfection, nor advancing toward it. You are at that point and must understand yourself therefrom.” It doesn’t allow for the Fact that “the starting point is that God, Spirit, is All-in-all, and there is no other might nor Mind.” And yet these are the very reasons that the return Home is a journey without distance.
Whatever correction is called for — physical, mental, emotional — it doesn’t await us in the future, but in the shift from thinking (which is always independent and private) to Listening. Remember the “silence” part I mentioned earlier — that “little absence of assertion” which insures that nothing interferes with the undistorted experience of Creation and puts one in a state of awe? It is why the holy instant is so important!
So, what is the gratitude one finds oneself feeling? Is it an illusion? No! But the notion that it is about “progress” or “improvement” is a misperception which must be recognized as a misperception!
The Fact is that the perceived improvement is actually the revelation of “Now are we the Sons of God.” It is actually the revelation of God being the only might and Mind right now! It is actually the experience of the journey having no distance. And because it is these things, the rest of the awesome experience of Creation can precipitously flood your awareness, end the sense of “gradual improvement” and turn your gratitude all the way into wonder!
Now, after all of that, “wholeness now” looks like a remainder of . . .
